The shift in home buyer choice for homes that meet the requirements of life in the ‘new normal’ post the pandemic has definitely led to suburban locations gaining traction. The new age home buyer looks for something that is flexible enough to support ‘work from home’. Plus, safe and secure living amidst a community which helps one grow. In ‘city center’ locations, these set of parameters and larger sizes cost higher as compared to suburban locations. This is one aspect that has fueled the shift to such locations; however, the price point is not the only factor. In suburban locations, one finds more green and open spaces, and there’s opportunities to create infrastructure which will support the requirements of the new age home buyer. With India on an infrastructure growth drive, the suburban locations will soon have transport linkages which will make the daily commute a breeze. So yes, home seekers are opting for new age homes in suburbia, but price points are not the only reason.
