Jewar Airport to be Logistic gateway & fuel Real estate demand.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarked that Jewar Airport will become a logistics gateway to Northern India.In terms of logistics, the critical issue is scalability; existing airports in north India have neither the bandwidth nor the expansion potential in terms of capacity to handle any such requirements – their capacity is fixed; and additional capacity requirements end up getting delayed. Expansion is a challenge as development has already happened in the areas near the existing airports in north India; and requirements of enhanced capacity tend to be put off to another day. The Noida International Airport which is coming up at Jewar, has been planned to have the size and capacity as also potential for expansion, so that it gives a fillip to logistics, apart from enhanced passenger capacity as also aircraft maintenance. Obviously, it has been planned to handle more than just cargo movements; globally, logistics requires specialized handling systems – and this is what Jewar’s master plan has incorporated.

“Any infrastructure project coming up gives a boost to economic development and creates jobs; here the focus on logistics will make Jewar an airport of choice for enhanced movement of goods, and not just in the Delhi-NCR region. It is this aspect – the benefits accruing to Northern India and not just being restricted to Noida which the Prime Minister focused on while making the comment,” he added.

With enhanced logistics movement, Jewar airport will also have a positive impact on demand for real estate, commercial as well as residential. The Jewar airport will be the biggest not just in India but in South-East Asia; it will support logistics and aircraft maintenance in a big way, so it is not just passenger traffic movement which will be the only gain for the region. In effect, this airport will become a major logistics hub for north India; in turn enhancing demand for commercial and residential real estate in the region, and have a multiplier effect on real estate development.
