The new age home buyer has evolved in sync with the ‘new normal’ in a world where humankind co-exists with challenges like the Corona pandemic. Real estate, as an industry, is making necessary changes in on-going projects to meet these requirements. The new trends underscore the need for a home which is ‘safe and secure’, as also has flexi interiors to meet ‘work from home’ as also ‘study from home’ and family wellness requirements. The first time home buyer comprises those who were in rental accommodation opting for their own homes, as also ‘fence-sitters’ who realized the importance of ‘owned house’, in a scenario with favourable market conditions. Another trend is of those who have upgraded to a larger sized home – so someone living in a 1 BHK at the beginning of 2020 are opting to move up to a 2 or 2.5 BHK.
