
The Indian authorities’ effort to keep the economy going despite the inherent challenges will certainly bear fruit. The Indian economy needs bold and immediate action, measures like a time-bound slashing of GST by 50 per cent across industries, to revamp demand and ensure a quick, V shaped economic recovery. The economic unlocking process has resulted in proverbial green shots being visible in the barren landscape of economic growth. To further boost overall economic health, a booster dose is required – especially in construction and Infrastructure, which are labour intensive and have a multiplier effect on 269 allied industries. In turn, this will generate demand and employment, which is the need of the hour.
In a move that is aimed at making home loans easily available, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) rationalized risk weightages attached to some categories in the segment.
