The housing crisis in India has received a much-needed boost of optimism with the implementation of the SWAMIH fund, which we advocated for. The government’s approval of a 25,000 crore budget for the fund is a positive step forward. However, given the size and scope of the country’s housing needs, I believe that a significantly larger amount, nearly six times the current allocation, is necessary to truly address the current situation. By taking bold action and investing in a more comprehensive solution, we can effectively manage the housing crisis in India.
